hi everyone, this is the first time i have posted on here and i am looking forward to
getting to know people. i have had lupus for 12years and i also have other illnesses related to it. i have acute pain, which i try to distract myself from doing things that will take my mind off it, although this is not always possible. i have a good consultant so i am very lucky in that respect. it would be nice to have support and support others through this illness, its a hard illness to live with, and not everyone can understand how we are feeling especially as most of the time everyone thinks we look so healthy, even if you do explain to people its the rash over the cheeks not pink glow of health i always get you are looking really well today with those healthy pink cheeks, ive now given up trying to explain to people anymore. i am lucky to have an understanding husband who helps as much as he can, and my dog always manages to make me smile through the worst of times anyway thats enough about me look forward to learning and hearing from others soon astrid40

HI again Astrid. I think I welcomed you already in another thread but I had to comment when I saw the dog comment. Many of us on this board are animal people so we understand exactly what you mean! You are very lucky to have a supportive husband but I know it I know this is often a lonely disease because so few understand what we are going through. You are alone no longer. Welcome to WHL. We are glad to have you!

    Hello astrid40,
Welcome to our lovely large family of the WHL and it will be lovely getting to know you like other member's and full support is given as we're all going through it in many ways.
Like yourself some days i have people say oh you do look well and other's who say you do look bad but no one will never understand what we go through until they have it and that goes for specialist also.

I hope venturing through the threads helps in many ways, as even though we have symptoms and diseases connected to it, we all learn something fresh everyday.

Hi welcome this is a great site to come to. As for the pink cheeks I can get away with it because I live in the desert LOL I just say thank you and leave it as that! U will get anoyed with people I do but then I just remind myself they really don't know and I can't be mad at them. Hope to hear more from you and take care !!!!!
