    Nonna,
LOL. Over on the Sjogren's site, there was a wonderful thread called "SJS - the Viking Warrior's Disease". It seems that some researcher in Europe had reached the conclusion that Sjogren's may have originated with the Vikings and was spread throughout Northern Europe by them. It sort of makes sense - an over-reactive immune system would come in handy for guys who are traveling about, looting and marauding. SJS symptoms tend to get really bad in the 4th or 5th decade, but hey, by then those guys had spread their genes and were at the end of their lifetimes.
As for me, it makes sense. My mother's side of the family had all of these AI symptoms, and the McWilliams family came to the U.S from Scotland - a prime place for those pesky Vikings to have spread their nasty Autoimmune genes.
It's a good theory, and I'm sticking with it!!!
    Hugs,
    Marla

That would also explain how the Germans got it too. Close "contact with Vikings". Tee hee. Great theory

Well my mom's mom was Irish and that's about as far North we go as far as I know but since parts of Ireland and Scotland are not too distant, there might be a connection.
As long as this body works, I am going to enjoy life to the fullest for each second of every moment that I can.
