Thumbs up Yes finally getting answers, good start to 2011 for me

Well today was my first appointment for the start of the year to see my Dermatologist.
He asked me how my skin was, i told him the hand cream is still ok and he checked my hands and said your fingers are swollen plus the knuckles but i said i can't use the face cream stopped using that in september it started burning my face and the last time you'd have thought i'd stuck my head in the oven and i told him i'm using Nivea cream and he told me to carry on with that at the moment.
He then asked how i was otherwise, i said i've got sores up both my nostrils now which won't go, my body and joints are murdering me with pain and i'm 42 but feel like i'm carrying a 70 odd year old woman's body and he said yes you will do [ i thought very nice] told him about my gyno trouble and he asked when i'd got to see the Rhuemo specialist i said the end of january, if that ain't cancelled again because i've not seen him since early last year, then he started looking through his notes i said that's the only letter my GP's had and he read out what i've been diagnosed with, which i've stated below and i then said all i want to know if someone will be straight with me and i mentioned the WHL and also my psychiatrist's concern have i got 'LUPUS' and his answer was yes from my blood results, well now it's confirmed everyone.
He then went onto telling me that my auto immune disease is bad and that i've got everything which involves trouble with Lupus, where as with some people it can be just a couple of disease's.
He's looked up plaquenil for me, for when i see the Rheumo specialist with what drugs i take now and if the Rheumo specialist agree's to put me on it, there will be no counter reaction with my other drugs i take.

Walking out of there today and talking for a fare bit, as now helped me regarding what i shall suffer more but the main thing is him stating i have Lupus from the blood results, now it's just sorting out the Rheumo specialist as he does'nt seem so straight forward as my skin specialist.

I am glad that you finally got an answer to this Terri. Now they can start treating it correctly and hopefully you can get to feeling better!

    Hi Mari,
I am pleased mate that someone as stepped forward and comfirmed it for me at last and he also told me that anyone with Antiphospholipid syndrome/SLE is also definitely Lupus anyway but my bloods confirm it also.

Mari hopefully my head will adjust to it more now, like i did with my epilepsey years back.

Thank you for your support mate it's most appreciated.

    Love Terri xxx

It is going to be OK Terri. You have made it through everything else so this is just an answer to another question. It isn't like you haven't been dealing with everything already, the only difference now is that what you have been dealing with has a name. We are here for you like you are always here for us

    Terri,
Good for you! Now you have some real answers, thanks to that wonderful doc who was honest with you. It hasn't helped you for the docs to try to "protect" you from your diagnosis. Now that your enemy is real and has a name, you can learn to accept it and how to deal with it.
Keep pushing those docs to be honest with you and help you.

    Hi Mystiejm,
They let me know what they'd diagnosed me with below but never stating i had Lupus so when i was blunt with the skin specialist today he then told me, he had my file open plus my results on the screen and how i've told everyone what was said, that's how i speak to the Doctor's now after years of being messed about.

Thankyou all the same for your support. Luv Terri xxx

Hello Marla or shall i say stranger.lol
Lovely to hear from you mate, all i've got to do now is push the other doctor for plaquenil as the skin specialist did say it would help my skin better and ease some pain but he said that's for my client to do, well i'll see how the other one likes me tongue at the end of January.

I actually think they did'nt want me to know because of my psychiatric history of depression, when i was in the day unit that day the doctor i saw then said twice you don't realy want to know if you've got Lupus, anybody would think i'm about to throw myself off the top of a building, they ah half idiots at time.

You takecare mate Luv Terri xxx

    Love Diane,
    Hello Diane,
I'm happy in myself knowing he's stepped forward and told me but he realy chatted with me today but mainly because the clinic was quiet it's usually packed out.
I've told him today i will only touch the plaquenil nothing else and if the Rheumo does'nt want to do that i'd rather suffer first than go on other stuff and he also did a print off of drugs not to touch if i am put on it for counter- reacting he is a nice bloke though i must admitt.

How are you feeling mate now, i do hope your ok Diane.

    Luv & Hugs Terri xxx
