    Angry anyone else take rituxan?

i have had rituxan 3 different times now. it has been working great once it kicks in but when it wears off i'm completely exhausted and my joints hurt so bad! does anyone have any tricks for when it starts to wear off to hold you over until the next treatment? i'm really struggling here..and my next infusion isn't until jan 11th! yuck!!!

i started rituxan as a last resort and it has been helping but definately scary since it was never approved for lupus. i wish there was something to help the pain and fatigue inbetween treatments! let me know how cytoxan works!

My blood specialist wanted me to take it until i read the side effects that scared me not to accept the treatment and my rhumey said no to the treatment. So that's when I cancled my future appts and stayed in cali for the summer and got better with no stress of course. However I'm glad it worked for u

Hi, I'm on rituximab too -and yes I agree, once the initial period is over, the effects wear off completely. How often are your infusions? And what else are you on?
Me, I'm on steroids and thyroxine for the moment. Nothing else. But need something else soon!

finally someone else on rituxan! i started out with every 6 months but this time i needed it sooner..4 months. what is thyroxine used for? i talked with the infusion nurse last week and she said lots of times patients will take more steroids inbetween treatments(yuck!!-not what i wanted to hear, i'm trying to get off of steriods).

Hi All, I started a course of Rituxan in December and still waiting for it to kick in and start working...how long did it take for it to start working for you guys? I'm also on steriods which has been recently been reduced to 7.5mg which is the lowest ive been on for such a very long time. Of course the aches and pains are back...unfortunately I have been through the list of medications and my body doesnt seem to tolerate any of them...causing problems with my kidney and liver and of course putting my strain on my body. In the last few weeks and especially today I have been getting very sharp pains in my abdomen....not quite sure whats going on there!!!

I just hope that the Rituxan will work and keep on working as the consultants are running out of options. Please let me know how things are going with you all...it will nice to chat with someone else on this treatment. Take care. June xxx

Hi June, It usually takes about 2-4 weeks from the 2nd dose for the Rituxan to start working for me. I was able to wean my steriods 2mg last round of Rituxan. i'm at 6mg now and am aiming to get down to 4mg this time. When I tried to wean mine without the Rituxan fully kicked in I had to bring it back up until the Rituxan started working then try again..that seemed to work really well for me so that i wasn't so achy with the wean-just something to concider. It sounds like you've been through the ringer with medications and I am really hoping this one works for you ASAP! Did the sharp pain in your abdomen stop? If not, maybe you should call your doc :/ I'm going for my 2nd round of Rituxan in the am. I have found that I usually feel feverish and tired for a couple of days after the 1st dose but the 2nd dose usually isn't as bad. Do you feel like that too? Hope you are feeling better!
