Default I'm afraid to go to sleep...

I know this isn't SLE related, but I had a sudden onset of left arm numbness tonight while lying in bed. I know it's not a heart attack as I don't have any other signs. I am, however, worried that it might be a TIA or stroke because of the visegrip type headaches I've been having. Oh, and the fact that I was lying on the couch earlier (seems like that's all I'm doing these days-my screen name should be Sofa Slug) and when I sat up, I had a total loss of vision in my right eye. Gradually, the vision came back, but before it did the vision was black for the most part, with a kinda jagged line of the upper 1/4 of my vision which was lighter and then the peripheral vision had little colored squares (like the little Chicklet candies/gum I used to chew when I was a kid).

I know it's strange. I don't have a HA right now and my blood pressure is fine. I shouldn't worry, but knowing my grandfather had a massive stroke that ultimately took his life, I can't help but be concerned.

It's gonna be a long night and I HAVE to go to work tomorrow.

Please go right to a doctor! The signs are there. You really should check on this. Forget work for today You are more important.

    Hugs and good thoughts,

Get your butt to the doctor ASAP young lady! Loss of vision in one or both eyes, numbness, and all of it associated with severe headache could be something very serious. Work will still be there tomorrow, go take care of you today.

I know I am new here but I feel the need to speak up because I know where you are. I can tell by the post that you are in that place of "Something is always wrong and all I do is whine" and this is not the time for that. What I see from that post is someone who DOESN'T whine very often because she is about to let a stroke or heart attack take her out because she doesn't want to "whine" about it. Don't let these people that don't understand your disease cause you to doubt yourself or your symptoms. Get to the doctor. I have read enough of your posts to know that you know what is going on and it is time that you believe in yourself the way that you believe in others on this forum!

Take care of yourself and let us know how it goes! We need you here

Thanks guys...I got the message loud and clear and promise that I will call my primary this morning for a referral to a neuro.

My arm feels kinda heavy this morning and my gait is a bit unsteady so there's no denying that this is "nothing.".

I really appreciate your responses and words of encouragement.

I wouldn't wait for an appointment. Get to an ER, if you have to go by ambulance, get there, before this literally gives you no time to get there.

I have to agree strongly. Even though I have always been a procrastenator, but when it comes to these serious symptoms, like yours, I would go to the ER.

I may have been dealt a bad hand, but at least I'm still playing with a full deck. ( most of the time anyway).

Went to ER at. 9:30 am and was admitted at 5:30 pm. They don't know if it was a stroke or SLE related. Battery is dying. I'll check in tomorrow.
