Default CT Results - the good, the bad and the unknown

I had my regular 3 month "maintenance" CT Scan Saturday to see how the Sarcoidosis is doing. I got a phone call today from the nurse at my PCP's office. The good news is that the enlarged lympnodes that led to the Sarcoidosis diagnosis have decreased in size since the last scan. The bad news is that they also see lessions on my thyroid gland now that weren't there before. I have appointments to see the Pulmonologist, Rheumy and PCP next week and the week after so hopefully they can resolve some of the unknown questions I have right now. I did a little Googling and it looks like I will be asking lot's of questions about Grave's disease at my next meeting. Better start a list...

    Sandy,
I'll be thinking about you, and I hope that it is easily treatable.
    Pleas keep us informed.
    Gentle Hugs,
    Marla

thank you both for the good thoughts. I will let you know what he says when I see the doc. I refuse to get carried away yet with possibilities. I haven't mentioned it to my mom yet either b/c she would get paranoid and jump to the worst case scenerio. I agree Gina, it's good and than bad. Almost never good and good. Well, here's to hoping for good news!

Well the pulmonologist didn't seem at all concerned about it. Then again, he does prefer lungs to other organs so maybe it was just uninteresting to him. The PCP is not so relaxed about it so I will see what he says. Panda - did you see the Feed Bot thread? There is something on there about a study with sisters who do and don't have lupus diagnosis & I commented to you that maybe your girls can do it.

    hi sandy,

sorry you are going through this. Seems that each time something new appears, it means that we are going to see a series of drs., and get numerous tests. It is a pain, but i guess it is for the best. At least we know that the drs. care, and that they are being aggressive in their attempts to keep us healthy.

My pcp continues to worry about my kidney function, so i go off and see the nephrologist, and he is not worried at all...."just watching very closely"....it is confusing.

I send you energy to endure this week.

Phyllis - sorry I didn't see your response until I searched for this thread today. How are you? What did the nephrologist say?

Update on things. I went to the PCP because of the CT Scan. He drew some bloods - TSH levels and ACH. ACH came back slightly higher than July (5.8 compared to 5.5) but he is still very happy with that # since I am still meds free for the diabetes. TSH was slightly elevated and T4 & T3 were elevated. Got an ultrasound of the thyroid. Even I can see the dark spots on the films that look like they shouldn't belong. He's sending me off to the Endo for a second opinion. I see him on Monday. They are going to be looking to see if this is Hashimoto's, Graves, Sarcoidosis affecting the Thyroid or cancer. I am guessing they are going to come back and say Hashimoto's or Sarc in the thyroid, but I am still in the sit back and wait to see what happens mode.

Also went to the ENT today for a followup to a bad allergy infection I was battling 2 weeks ago. He stuck a loooong scope up my nose and down my throat. He said the nose and through look clear but my voice box is showing signs of inflammation. I am going back next week to see some sort of specialist at his office to see if I have acid reflux. I think I do. I know my mom does so we shall see with that too. I also asked him about the rash that was on my tongue and from what he can see, he thinks it is geographic tongue. He wants to see me again in 3 weeks. Oh and rashes are flaring up again so now I am going back to the dermy on Monday for some punch biopsies. Looks like I am in a flare again, or heading to it, but it really is a pretty managable one right now.

Been a busy few days lately too. My mom and aunt were in from FL staying with me. If you are on my FB page, you know we have been up to non-stop shinanagins. I laughed so hard this last week that I think I lost 5 lbs! They came in on Thursday and we were going, going, going nonstop the whole time they were here. Thursday night was Ladies Night. Friday was visiting my mom's old friends, Saturday was a family wedding were I saw cousins I haven't seen since I was 7 or so, Sunday was a trip to the cemetary to see my grandma with my mom and aunts and then it was a surprise 50th for my Aunt Sue. Monday was dinner at Aunt Sues. Tuesday they went home. I dropped them off at the airport yesterday and went straight to bed for a 3 hour nap! LOL!

The MS Walk is this weekend. I have reached my personal goal of $500 and am still raising funds. The team is almost to $800 in fundraising out of $1,500 goal. It is looking like my Aunt Beth won't be making the walk this year as she has been trying to beat bronchitis and is on a nebulizer at the moment. Her doctors thought she might not have MS and instead have a brain tumor last week so they sent her to a neurologist in NYC but they neurologist said no, it is MS there is no tumor seen. Personally, I am glad it is not a tumor. I would rather it were neither, but I think I prefer it not to be a tumor. She is doing alright at the moment aside from those things.

So that is that. I know I have been a little quiet on here lately, but I will be back and yapping away real soon. I just have been busy with all the family stuff and quiet with all the health stuff.

Hi Sandy. I'm sorry I missed this thread. It sure sounds like you're heading into a flare. (((Hugs))) It sounds like all that family time is good medicine tho.

Keep us posted what the endo says on Monday, okay?
