Default No colds, again, and may have found a reason

I posted sometime last year regarding this but couldnt find it.

I NEVER get a cold, ever! My family can each one get a cold (5 people in the house) and I will not.

I thought this to be extra strange seeing that I would think a lupie would be the first to get one...

Well, I was at another site (that had a small group dedicated to Lupus, etc.)

This lady on there said she went through a period that she did not and could not get a cold, because - she explained that at the time her Lupus caused her immunity to go in overdrive, and she had a super-immunity.

Her immune system was killing what would be a cold,

But all the while it was attacking other organs in different ways.

Anyone experience this? I thought I was the only one until I read this ne info.

    Hi Luvin...

I haven't had a cold, flu or any bug for 20 years. I think you and I talked about this before..or perhaps with another. The only organ Lupus seems to want to take as his own is my stomach...

I mentioned to my new DR about the lack of the common cold or flu and she didn't seem amazed or shocked..just, oh, okay.

I also have never had any type of flu shots.

    Be well,
    Love,
    Oluwa

thanks Oluwa, I guess it isn't so uncommon for a Lupus patient then.

I am just glad to finally know why I never get them.

I had my gallbladder removed in October, so I guess the Lupus attacked it, I am learning something new all the time.

I thought I was crazy...I tell people alll the time I never catch colds, to the point I know it can't be normal! I work in a pediatric office..I am exposed constantly and although you build immunity it still is extreme. My sister has a cold evey other month..me...never!

I am the opposite case. I have colds and viruses all the time. They cause flares and the vicious cycle never ends.
Doctors say that I have "severe immune deficiency" because of lupus.
My white blood cells and Lymphocytes are always low.
It looks like my Immune system is attacking my Immune system.
    How ironic.

Every time one of my children gets sick; I get it. I wish I could skip it. I have low lymphocytes as well. Not sure if that makes a difference. I had the H1N1 shot because I was not going to take a chance.
