    Hello Jim,

I saw your post about a dr. in Northern California. The only doctor that I know of is in Sacramento. It is Kenneth Wiesner MD. I hope this helps.

    Take care,

    Faith

Thank you faith. I am getting a referal from my new cardiologist for a rheumy here in Chico, we will see how this guy works out, a bit of a shorter drive for me, however I did drive to Sacramento yesterday and I was surprised it only took about an hour and fifteen minutes. I will definetly keep this in mind. Thanks again and God bless. JIm.

    Hi Jim,

I think Saysusie has a pretty good handle on what's available in California for Rheumotologists. When she gets back from vacation, I'll bring this thread to her attention to see if she can help.

    You are very welcome Jim.

I currently drive 2 hours to Los Angeles because the quality of care far exceeds the quality of care in Central California as well as the pain and discomfort of the drive. My rheumy in Los Angeles is the one whom made the recommendation of the doctor in Sacramento. I hope you find someone local; if not you only have an hour's drive to a specialist.

I wish you luck, many blessings, and a Happy New Year!

    God Bless,

    Faith

    Hi Faith,

I was catching up on some reading and saw your post. I had very bad luck with the doctor in chico. Do you know if Dr. Kenneth Wiesner is a good one? Sorry for the question, am having bad luck with doctors lately.

Dolocot, I go to see my dr. in Medford Oregon on Monday, will actually leave tomorrow aroung noon, But, from what I here I am going to see if he will give me a referral to dr. wiesner in Sac. I was seeing a dr. in Redding but like you were saying we did not hit it off very well. At first I thought he would be good but then it got to trying to tapper me off prednisone and by the time I got down to 14mg I got to the point to where I could not function any more and started missing days from work, called him up and told him about it, he had some blood tests done and told me there was no sigh of lupus activity and to continue the tapper, at that point I said good buy, I am not going to go back to where I am sitting in a chair slobbering on myself and not being able to function so I went back to my previous dr. in Medford, he does know lupus.
Enough of that, I saw on your profile that you like to sew and knit, my beloved wife loves to quilt, sew and knit. I checked out the map and as you said we are not too far from each other. Maybe some time we will have to meet up and have lunch and meet the family. It lookes like on your profile that you are a nurse? I work at Northwest Lineman College in Oroville as a training instructor. Take care and look forward to chatting with you. Jim

Dolocot, what dr. did you try in Chico? Just out of curiousity. I live in Durham, 5 min. from Chico. I have tried to get a dr. in Chico but have had no luck, I took that as a sign that I wasn't supposed to have one in Chico.

    Hi Dolocot & Jim,

I had asked a well known rheumy for an aquaintance of mine and he had suggested Dr. Weisner. You may want to google him and place grades after his name. I did that and found several comments on other rhuemys which gave me a feel for those who took their time and were graded high and those that were not. I can't remember the website address with the grades. I have no further info on him whatsoever. Another area to check is rhuematology.org as it lists rhuemys by state and breaks it down by city. They are all board certified. I would try it and it you don't care for him; try someone else. I know it's very frustrating. I am in the same process. Once you find one you like, takes his time and understands, it will all be worth it.

Please keep us posted on your apptmt. I am not sure how far Monterey is but there is another doc by the name of Dr. S. Suh. I am not sure what the distance is from Chico to Monterey. Hang in there.
