I got to be Santa's helper this morning, and I had so much fun! The Officers' Spouses' Club sponsored a Breakfast with Santa this morning. Jeff needed quiet study time, so I volunteered.
First, the beautiful setting: The Defense Language Institute is high on a hill overlooking the Monterey Bay. We took over the lovely old mansion on the base, which was once known as The Presidio. On one end, the children and their families enjoyed a pancake breakfast, served by the Spouses' Club.
After breakfast, the families were escorted through the house to my table, where I signed them up for Santa pictures. The hubby of the Commandant of NPS, who is a right jolly old elf named Rick, was a fantastic Santa. We had him sitting next to a roaring fire with a lovely Christmas tree next to the fireplace. It was so much fun to watch Rick interact with the kids!
In the room on the other side of Santa, a local kids' fun place called My Museum, had set up a roomful of fun and creative activities for the kids. Those little ones had fun all morning.
It makes me feel so much better when I can participate in things like this.
I thought that you would all enjoy hearing about it.
Happy Holidays!
