    Default Lupus Specialists

Hello I was wondering if anyone knows of any Lupus Specialists of GP's (with a more extensive knowlege of lupus) around Birmingham or Wolverhampton. If so, could you give me their names and contact information? Thankyou so much, please have a good day! Take Care

    Hi Sombras,

Good luck in finding a GP with experiance of lupus. My last three have been what i perceived as ignorant to the illness. My current one still cannot beleive that at 25 I have lupus (he thinks it is rare for people under 50 ????). my others beleived it consisted of joint and muscle pains alone, and would not listen to my other symptoms (luckily I moved house so I got a new practice).

My current GP surgery (in Essex) is done so that each GP has a specialist field, one of which is rhuematology. Unfortuantely for me I was not assigned to this GP and am thinking about requesting a transfer to him. I had not heard of GP's having a specialist field before i joined this practice, so maybe you could speak your surgery reception and ask if they have specialist fields. If not I would contact your local health authority as they can be quite helpful?

Good luck, hope that is of use to you :?:

    Carly
