Default Got My Butt in Gear...

Okay...so I've spent the last few months here enouraging others to take good care of themselves, make sure they keep up with their doctor appointments, etc., etc., but I have a confession.....I've done the unthinkable...I've put off scheduling ALL of my doc appointments with all the specialists I've needed to see in the last year. Just plain blew it off.

I know better than anyone how foolish that is...but, over the years I have gotten so darn sick of seeing doctor after doctor for months on end, so I decided that since I've been doing so good and in remission, I would take a break from them for awhile. Kind of like a....Doctor Vacation! Yeah, that's what it was...and it felt good.

But my doctor vacation has ended...like all vacations have to eventually. After I got the kids off to school this morning...and before I got sidetracked with anything else...I dug up all my doctor's phone numbers and pulled out my calendar...and made appointments to see my Primary Care Doc, my ENT and Vocal Cord Specialist, my Ortho Hand & Wrist Specialist, and my Opthalmalogist. I already have an upcoming appt. with my Immunologist in early June, so that makes a total of 5 doctor appointments for me in the next 4 weeks. And I sit here and cringe as I write that...but it's got to be done.

So, I've been a good girl today....and now I can sleep easier knowing it's finally done! And please, even though I know you're gonna do it....don't scold me too much. I'm human like the rest of you.

    Big sigh....

Currently, I am on a doc holiday. I canceled my May 5th Rheumba appointment.

Going to the doctors for me is like drinking grapefruit juice with a salad...icka. Cringe.

    Here's to courage!

    Hugs,
    Love.

I was taking a break from the Drs. myself until yesterday when I went to see my regular Dr. I had several growths removed from my back and from under my breasts. He wrote me a prescription for my pain medication and lo and behold I lost the prescription. I have combed my car and my house looking for it to no avail. Now I am going to have to ask him to write me another one. I am kind of embarassed about that, but that is what this lupus does to us. It causes us to lose and forget things. Somedays I feel like it is a wonder that I can even remember my own name, let alone find and refill a prescription.

Anyway, thanks everyone for letting me vent. I feel better now.

Atta girl! Why is it that doing the right thing feels so bad sometimes?

    Good luck.

(Oh yeah - while you are gone to all of those appointments, I'll be spending some time in the old Arcade trying to beat some of your scores!)

So glad you made you appointments. Going to doctors is so stressful. We need a break sometimes
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

Ha Ha...that won't be hard...I've only got 2 highscores left.

Hmmm...maybe I'll call all the doctor's back today and cancel...tell 'em I have to head back to the arcade and defend myself.

    I'll tell em it's Pearl's fault....

Outstanding...I'll be hoping for your remission bigtime. You most definitely deserve it Karen. I hope it's your chance for a nice long doctor break...and some happy, pain free days ahead.

    Hugs

    Lori
