    Default weird symptoms?

Does anybody have weird symptoms, since you have been diagnosed with lupus? I have a very high sense of smell and taste. My husband says I am like a bloodhound, I can smell things before anybody else does. I am also very sensitive to noise, it drives me crazy. I can hear better as well. Am I the only weird person, with strange symptoms?

probably the strangest thing that has happened to me since i started experiencing lupus is ALL my allergies are gone. i kid you not. i used to have horrible sinuses and i was even considering getting laser surgery on my sinuses they were so bad. then since i got lupus, my sinuses are completely crystal clear 24/7. i used to sneeze horribly all the time, all day long, and now i can't even remember the last time i sneezed.

my food allergies have also disappeared. melons, bananas, avocados, and carrots, for example, used to make my throat itch and now i have no reaction to them.

i am also no longer allergic to cats.

    Default Wierd symptoms reply

    Hey,
I am not diagnosed as of yet officially. I have many symptoms including a nil reading of vitamin d and a positive ana reading and low white blood cell count. I am 41 years old and have had rashes from the sun since about age 13 and lung problems since birth. I have government healthcare and my doc just sent me to a specialist three months ago. I too have strange nose and hearing symptoms. If someone drinks coffee before work I smell it on them when they come near me at my job. If someone peels a banana in my kitchen though I am on the other side of the house with two closed doors between us, I smell it. I know it sounds yucky but I can tell by smell when I have a lung infection even before I have the cough. Same with a uti. My hearing is also acute. It is right up there with dog hearing too!

when i am in a flare, my light and sound sensitivity goes through the roof. Normal levels are actually painful.

    Default Light Sensitivity

I think that is why I thought I was having migraines. I would have a massive headache that got even worse from light and sound. It even hurt just to watch anything move.

    Debbie,

I have similar symptoms, but not exactly the same. I have very decreased taste and at times my appetite decreases too. However, I do have extremely sensitive hearing and smell, so much so that I can't even go near stores that sell fragrances/lotions and the detergent aisle at wal-mart is my enemy. It sucks so bad, but on a positive note, I can hear things that people don't always want me to hear.

Oh and tasha, you are so lucky. I wish my allergies would go away. I highly sensitive to Pollen, and Spring is here...I'm glad you have some relief, and I hope everyone is feeling well today.

It isn't the detergent aisle that I have problems with in the store, it is the coffee aisle...I like coffee, which seems strange, but all those different smells make me ill...and don't get me started about the smell of cigarette smoke...

I also with that my allergies would go away, too...how cool for you, Tasha...like Amanda, the spring is beautiful here and my favorite season, but it makes me so ill.

Last night I have earned my keep as a bloodhound again. I was cooking and got distracted ( brain fog) and my meat started to burn,( the water had evaporated), my husband was standing right next to the stove and I was in the livingroom, I smelled it, my husband didn't. Because I have smelled it early enough, I was able to save it. He just said "this is incredible".

    Debbie,

I'm glad that these "weird" symptoms so many of us experience can be helpful, and that you're husband thinks they are "incredible." It's always nice to have a GOOD symptom for a change, huh?
