Default My Boyfriends Mother Was Diagnosed, How Can I Help Him Cope?

I know I just posted on another board, but I have so many questions about lupus. My boyfriends mother was recently diagnosed and him and I have been doing some research on the condition. Everything we have found has not been comforting, most of it says that persons with lupus die within 10 years My boyfriend is very worried about his mother, however he sympotoms do not seem to be that of lupus to me, the only thing we know she has is hives. Can anyone give me some information that will give him piece of mind about the condition, I keep trying to assure him that she is going to be fine, but it doesn't seem to be working very well. I am not good in situations like this.
