    Sandra;
    I cannot lie down, close my eyes and go to sleep. I either have to listen to music, nature sounds CDs, or put a movie in my portable DVD player with headphones. I keep the volume low and the sounds put me to sleep.
    Somehow, even when I am in pain, this seems to help me to fall asleep. I've also noticed that, when I do this, I do not suffer from nightmares the way that I do normally.
    I hope that your pain subsides so that you can get some rest. Hopefully we'll talk to you tomorrow :P

    Peace and Blessings

    Sandra, I've suffered from insomnia for years, and lupus has just made it worse. I take Ambien at night, but even that doesn't always do much. I will have 'good' periods when I can sleep an 8 hour stretch. But, 4 or 5 hours is more common. And when I'm in a painful flare - forget sleeping! Hips, knees, calves, ankles, elbows, wrists - everything hurts. I have fibromyalgia (just as Saysusie and many others here do) and it really wreaks havoc with sleep. Talk to your doctor about you having difficulty sleeping. Restorative sleep is so critical to taking care of yourself. Hope you rested well last night (I didn't....rats!)
