    Default Cell Cept

    Hi.

    I have been taking cell cept now for 3 years and was wondering if anybody took it for that long and how were you tapered of it? I am taking it for my kidneys, and I believe that it's time for me to lower the doses little by little but I am sooooo worried that I might flare back.

    Anybody went through this phase??

    Hi Naboul;
    First, your doctors will want to do some tests to see how well your kidneys are functioning before they even begin to consider tapering your Cellcept. Whatever you do...DO NOT begin tapering WITHOUT your doctor's permission and without your doctor's monitoring.
    The amount by which tapering occurs differs for each patient, depending upon the seriousness of the kidney dysfunction, the amount of milligrams prescribed and the results of lab tests.

    Peace and Blessings

    Default Cell Cept

    Hello,
    I know exactly what you are talking about Naboul. I had severe kidney problems when I first was diagnosed. I was on cytoxan for 2 1/2 years and then they switched me to cell cept. I have been taking cell cept for 5 years and nothing with my medication doses have really changed.
    At my last appointment my doctor talked about wanting to lower my dose of cell cept but he wanted to do another kidney biopsy on my to make sure everyting was a-okay in my kidneys before we did so. I had my biopsy in the beginning of the month and I have an appointment on mon aug 25th to discuss the results and further plan of treatment. The thing is though that I know already that the preliminary results still show lupus activity in my kidneys.
    So now for my appointment coming up I am nervous because I don't know what my doctor is going to say. I really want to try lowering my dose or try another treament or somehting. Like you Naboul I am worried of a flare but I am also very hopeful that whatever we (my doctor and I) do I will see positive results.
