Default Can I safely use oral contraceptives with SLE?

I need to get birth control, and oral contraceptives seem to be the best choice. I'm concerned becuase i've read that a women with antiphospholipid antibodies should avoid them, given the increased risk of blood clots. Is this risk significant enough to outweigh the possible benefits to be reeped (ie, no babies at 19!)

My nephrologist recommended I use birth control, given the teratogenic nature of half my medications, by the way. (But I don't know if he knew so much about lupus and the risks involved.)

Do any of you use a kind of birth control pill?
    Can I do it safely?
