Hi! First of all; Im from Denmark, but hope you'll understand my english. :)
Its been 3 years since I got Lupus, I was/were 18 years at the time. It started out whit a big red spot on one of my fingers, and then the red spots started to move around all over my body. I look like a dalmatiner, (the dog),whit red spots insteed of black spots.
Went to my doctor who looked at me like I was crazy, he said that it was strees and that I needed to get some sun... right! :D Its kind of funny to me now, but it was'nt back then.
So. now I have a new doctor, well 3 actually.
Im happy whit lupus now, or miss Lupus as I call it. I need to be able to laugh about it, and just learn from it. You know; if were not able to laugh about something like lupus, life would be hell.
I know that Im lucky, and that other people are more sick than me, but I think we could all learn from lupus. Try to look at the good instead of the bad.

    Well, that's it for now!

    Love Kirstine

    Hello Kirstine,

Welcome! Your English is just fine. I'm Rob, I'm a 40 year old guy who was diagnosed with SLE in 2004. I live in New England (Maine). I'm fairly new here myself. There are some incredibly nice people here, as well as alot of good info on all the different aspects of Lupus. And you are right about laughter, it is an absolute must. It sounds like you are managing your Lupus very well, that is a great thing. Many of us here can be more sick, or less sick than other people on any given day. The fact that you are doing well, and managing your disease gives others hope that they can do that too, and it is nothing to be ashamed of. Once again, welcome!

    Rob

Nice to meet you...my family doctor and I are still looking for answers. I now see a specialist who I do not think believes in "lupus" Like you I have large red circles. Got my first one when I was 30 I now have two more ... and have other lupus rashes.

    Hi Kirstine:
Welcome to our family. You've already met some of our members and have seen how understanding everyone can be. As Rob said, any one of us can have a better or worse case of Lupus on any given day. The disease, itself, is very unpredictable and each person's lupus is different.
I am glad to hear that you are able to manage your Lupus. Your first doctor (who told you to get more sun) was apparently very misinformed and had you taken his advise, you may have worsened your symptoms. I'm glad that you now have a team of doctors who at least seem to know what they are doing.
You may come to us at any time with questions, concerns, feelings or if you need support, understanding or comfort. We are here to help and to let you know that you are not alone.

    Peace and Blessings

    Welcome Kir,

Your English is awesome!!! They say laughter is the best medicine; sometimes we have to laugh after the fact though at the time we just wanted to cry.

This forum has been a positive in all our lives in that we support each other. We may be able to help someone in need; and the favor is often returned to us when we are experiencing a "new" symptom (spelling? that doesn't look right, eeeek) that we are unfamiliar with.

    Welcome to the family.

    Take care,

    Faith 8)

    Hi Jana,

Where in Oklahoma are you from? My hubby's sister lives in Edmond and of course we are die-hard OU fans. I know, they lost this year. Bummer!!

    Take care,

    Faith 8)
