I'm sorry you had a bad report (but glad the liver enzymes were OK.) It's my understanding that there are more than one reason you could have protein in your urine. If it's a result of the lupus - causing inflammation in your kidneys - then your doctor will probably ask you to see a kidney specialist. Check out the information on the Lupus Foundation of America website on kidney disease and lupus. http://www.lupus.org/webmodules/weba...=100&zoneid=17 You'll see that sometimes the involvement is so mild, it really doesn't require any special treatment. But, it's something your doctor is going to want to monitor very carefully. Please keep us posted on how you're doing. Many, many people on this forum are going through the same thing. You'll find lots of support here.

    Default protein in urine

Protein in the urine is one indicator of Lupus.( +3 or greater on a regular basis) Having protein in your urine means that your kidneys aren't filtering the way they normally should so they begin to spill protein. I always have protein in my urine and have since I was thirteen, but I also get alot of UTI's with it.
I'm 24 years old, married, with a 24 month old daughter. I just got diagnosed with Lupus about 9 months ago. I'm just looking to find friends that understand what I'm going though that won't get tired of hearing about my illness!

    Hey there,

I have a friend who has sle and had protein and blood in her urine 10 years ago and has not had a flare of the kidneys since. (she does have occasional blood) but no more damage.

I am praying that is your case and also, that you are not stressed out.

    Big cyber hug from me.

    In Him,

    Karen

    Hi...

Protein in my urine is a frequent thing for me. Sometimes it's an infection, sometimes is a flare in which case the doc increases my prednisone for a couple of months, and that usually takes care of it.

    Hope yours clears soon..

I've had protein my urine twice. I was referred to a kidney specialist. He said that if I continued to have protein in my urine that I may need to have a biopsy. Fortunately, my last 3 lab results showed no protein. However, the latest showed ketones. My rheumatologist said the protein could be due to many things. From what I remember, she said it could be due to ibuprofen. I've stopped taking motrin. Hopefully you don't still have the protein to this day. I hope everything is going much better for you.
