    Default Lupus and radiation

    Hi,
I was diagnosed two weeks ago. Still in shock.
I am planning a pregnancy, and need to have a mammography before due to breast cancer in the family.
Is there a connection between flare up of lupus and radiation? (my doctor said he's never heard of it but I remember seeing it somewhere on the internet).
    Thanks,
    Michelle

There is some concern for patients receiving radiation therapy and Lupus flares. Radiation therapy (such as for cancer patients) has a tendency to weaken the immune system.
A mammogram is not radiation therapy and there should be no problems there. Also, do not worry about routine x-rays (such as the dental x-rays).

    Peace and Blessings
