    Hi Karen,

I also am a teacher (grade school) and have had to give it up. I am 45, (actually my birthday is in teo weeks so I will say 46). I was diagnosed last October. It has been a real adjustment for all of us.

For as long as I can remember, teaching is all I wanted to do. At the moment, I am not even able to substitute teach..........We all have been hit with a new reality. I may be wrong, but I think we might go through the same stages of grief. I know that our family is having to find out what normal is for us and now it is going to have to encompass lupus and all that it means.

Maybe, when you get the flare in remission, you might be able to teach part time. Of course that depends what ages you actually teach. I don't know what the future holds for me in that area. There are times that I do not know my name.....

    May God bless you,

    Karen
