    Default lab question

    hi,
    i just got my basic lab results back:

    rdw=15 (range is 11-15)
    pattern=homogenous
    titer=1:320

    My mother had lupus, so I am pretty sure that I will also now be diagnosed with it. I have an appt on the 21st with a rheumotologist.

    But, I was wondering - could I just have a positive ANA bec of my mother? And, if I had lupus would my pattern NOT be homogenous? I'm just looking for some hope that I do not have lupus..........
    Thanks everyone,
    lisa

    Ivarma, lab tests aren't going to give you a definitive diagnosis of lupus - your family history will be important, of course, but that won't do it either. The docs are going to look at a number of things other than labs. Go to the Lupus Foundation of America website to learn more about how lupus is diagnosed. http://www.lupus.org/webmodules/weba...d=81&zoneid=15
    And don't be scared....there are lots of ways to treat symptoms, and you'll find good support here. You'll find every kind of person, and every kind of symptom represented here. Someone will always try to answer your questions. Take care.
