Default New to the forum but no definite Diagnosis

    Hey
I am new here. Make a long story short, I have been having neurological problems for the last 4 or 5 yrs and I have been to every doctor imaginable, tests out the waahzoooo!, and I was sent to get some labs done by Neurologist. Well, my ANA came back positive and I got sent to rheumatologist. I have never heard about that blood test before and now I am going to a new kind of dr. I am freking out b/c I don't know what is happening to me. I don't have but maybe one symptom that may go with Lupus - dry skin, positive ANA...My cheif complaint over the years is dizziness (#1) a feeling of off balance and weird visual disturbances. Can anyone give me some imput on this?? Or do any of you experience this??!
    Any comment is greatly appreciated!

    Thanks!
    ASH

    Hi Tbird!

Welcome to the Forum! I'm glad that you found us!

Please just know that anytime you need advice, support, information or just to vent or chat, we're all here for you!

Yes, I suffer from dizzy spells myself, although mine are most likely due to electrolyte problems, Hypoglycaemia and Hypotension. I experience weird visual disturbances and actually lose my balance/faint when my blood pressure is very low and I stand up too quickly (Orthostatic Hypotension). Have you had your blood pressure checked recently?

    Keep well!

    Thanks! I lovehistory

Glad to be here. I have had my blood pressure checked and it is normal but has been known to drop if I am standing too long or suddenly get up. But my ears hurt and I feel like I am spinning as well - sounds like vertigo - I know, but my ENT said my ears were fine???! Who knows!

Can you describe your visual disturbances a little?

    Thanks!

    Hi Tbird!

    It's a pleasure!

Sure! I will get up and suddenly everything goes almost black! I just cannot see! It is very hard to explain or describe unless you are experiencing it yourself.

    I hope that this helps!

    Keep well!

    Hi Tbird
Lupus can cause a range of serious problems related to the brain or to the central nervous system, including headaches, seizures, dizziness, vision problems, behavior changes or stroke or neuropsychological problems (depression, unpredictable behavioral changes). Some of these symptoms arenít solely caused by lupus; often they can occur as a result of emotional stress and prolonged use of some lupus medications. Plaquenil is one of the most commom therapies for lupus whose side effects can include dizziness, drowsiness and blurred vision.
Perhaps you can talk to your doctor about the medications that you are taking to make sure that your dizziness is not a result of this. If not, you may want to discuss, with your doctor, the possibility of central nervous system invovlment with your Lupus.
Please let us know what you find out and how you are doing!!

    Peace and Blessings

    Default C3 and C4 proteins

Have any of you been told your C3 and C4 proteins in your blood were below normal? What can this indicate? I have read about it and it is associated w/ Lupus and other Autoimmune disorders...I guess I would like a better undersatanding of it, this is all soooo new to me :?
