    Default 1 in 20,000!

    Hi Guys,

While Lupus is not rare (more common than Cerebal Palsy), only about 5% of people with Lupus are male. This means only 1 in 20,000 males have Lupus and thus Lupus is rare in males.

In Australia, there should currently be about only 1000 males with lupus.

    FYI.

Hopefully, it is getting more recognition for men! I would venture to say that men have to deal more with doctor's who refuse to believe their symptoms and employers who are ignorant much more than women do, because it happens so rarely with men!!!
I do hope that for men and women....we can start to be taken seriously and that some truly effective treatments (or even a cure) are soon to come!!

    Peace and Blessings
