Default Just want to introduce myself...

    Hello Everyone!

My name is Cheryl and I live in Virginia. I am 29 and am married to a wonderful man and have a beautiful daughter.

I haven't yet had an official diagnosis, but my primary care Doctor say that based on my symptoms and ANA testing he believes it is probably Lupus. I see a specialist on 10/29/03 and am very nervous.

If anyone can share any experience with me or offer any advice, please let me know!

    Looking forward to meeting everyone!

    Default Welcome to the boards

    Hi Cheryl,

I can easily remember what it was like to be waiting for a dx cos that was me just a few weeks ago. Like you my GP was fairly certain that it was sle and I had to wait several months before I could see the rheumy. I think I made myself sicker just with the stress of it all.

Turned out that the rheumy was absolutely wonderful, he was such an understanding man and he was able to confirm the dx fairly easily as blood tests and history were fairly convincing and I just happened to be sporting a nice mask on the day! I was pretty blown away at first but he explained things really well to my husband and I and gave us confidence that this was something we could handle. The rheumy was confident that with medication I should be feeling much better in a about 12mths time. Explained that this disease has been cooking away for several years so will take a while to get under control.

So I'm taking each day as it comes and looking forward to a better new year (God Willing) and just trying to learn as much as I can and stay positive.

I'm sending heaps of positive thoughts to you in the hope that you will get some answers and hopefully be able to start fighting back and regaining some of what you have lost.

Will be thinking of you on the 29th let us know how you get on

    Much love and (((((((((gentle)))))))))))))

    Hellie

Default Hellie made me cry! (sniff)

I've been so emotional lately and Hellie's response was so nice, it made me cry! In a good way though.....I am lucky enough to have the support of lots of friends and family, but it means so much to talk to someone that is going through the same things and know how you feel. Part of the disease is depression and it is so easy to get down and overwhelmed! It's really easy sometimes to feel like you are all alone. It is really good to realize that I'm not.

    Thanks Hellie!
