    Default New member introduction

I'm 53 and married to my wonderful husband for 30 years. I have 3 grown children and 2 precious grandchildren. I love my family and my life very much.

I am newly diagnosed with SLE. I was sick off and on with symptoms after a severe case of strep in May 2006. My joints in my fingers and wrists were very stiff and sore. I had a possitive ANA test however no other glaring symptoms so the rhuematologist told me not to worry and I went on about my life. In the meantime I had flare ups all summer but had been put on prednisone for joint pain which temporarily helped. I had a full blown flare up in early September which involved a Malar rash on my face, rash on my chest arms and back, fever, headaches, and severe joint and muscle pain which included my legs and ankles. I was hospitalized and at that time the disease was confirmed. I was put on 60 mg of prednisone for 2 weeks and in the process of weaning off of it completely in mid October. I am also on Plaquinel 200mg 2 times a day. I have good and bad days but I am definitly feeling better.

I am glad I found this support group and look forward to participating.
