Default i am now a bionic man ??

I have just arrived home from hospital,
6 days ago I had my operation.
now I have a metal stump in my lower leg bone, and a metal ball in my top leg bone.
    the x ray looks weird.

and at the moment the pain is exceptional, but hopefully life will be far easier when I heal.

I have already had a few minor setbacks ........
    little things like lupus inflammation.
my lupus inflammation has made it impossible to continue my normal stretching exercises.
I am unable to bend my knee anywhere as much as I was before the inflammation started.

but I will not let it stop me.

    Steve;
You are my hero. So, they made you stronger & faster (a little 6 mill dollar man humor). I do hope that the pain subside, that you heal well and that this Lupus flare goes away quickly. Stay strong and positive...it is hopefully downhill from here

    Peace and Blessings

    update on progress.
    day 10 post surgery....

    went to physio session.
they gave me a complete new set of stretches to do.
    more complex.
but they are happy with my progress so far.

I can walk slowly on 1 crutch, without over limping.
but I get very tired when walking.
I have 90% bend of the knee .... just.
it is still painful, but the degree of pain is very reduced.

a couple of days ago, I was wondering why I put myself into such pain.
now there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I need lots of rest, and only short bursts of activity .......
sounds familiar to our normal state of affairs LOL

today, I went to see my surgeon.
it is 14 days since the metal inserts.

I am slow walking around without crutches .....
but walk with 1 crutch, and I barely limp

my bending is taking some extra effort.
due to my body still being in shock,
I have extra swelling, (from lupus).
my amount of bend is directly effected by the amount of inflammation.
on a good day I get 100 degrees bend.
on a bad day only 45 or so.

yes I still have constant minor pain .....
    but that too will diminish.

I am glad I did this....
and recommend it to everyone who is thinking of a replacement.
but my lupus has made it a lot harder than it would have been.

    I expected the pain .....
I expected to cry during rehab.
but I did not know the swelling would restrict me so much.

    Hi Steve;
I am so glad to hear that your are recuperating so well and that, after only 14 days, you are on only one crutch. I guess, as you mentioned, given our disease, rehab can be a bit more difficult for us. However, I think that - given your disease - you are recovering remarkably well and, just think how well you will be doing in the weeks to come!!!
Keep on trucking (lol)..like your doctors, I am proud of and pleased for you

    Peace and Blessings
