Default Skin Sensitive to Substances as Well as Sunlight?

Hi everyone. I'm still very new to my Lupus diagnosis as well as new to this forum. At the moment, I'm in a wicked rash outbreak on my face. I've been very careful about sunlight but have had exposure to some products on my skin (neutrogena sun block for one.) Before Lupus, I was never sensitive to products. Now it seems like everything lights up my rash. Have others had this experience or is this just a coincidence? Thanks for feedback.

Me too, my skin could take a lot of beating. Nuetrogena actually has a sensitive skin sunscreen now, I started using that for my face other than the regular one. Cetaphil is a great product for face lotion that doesn't irritate the rash. When my rash is bad that was the only thing that didn't set it off. Baby shampoo/soap is a good and cheap product for sensitive skin, I use it to wash my face. I actually prefer it much more than cetaphil's face wash. Luckily my mom and sister always took the products that didn't work for me because trust me I went thru a lot of them. Find fragrance free or sensitive skin lotions, Curel has a good one. Of course I love corona multi-purpose ointment, I buy mine at walgreens, just ask at the pharmacy counter.
Weird thing about lupus is that sometimes I would find a product that my skin will tolerate and then after a while suddenly I have a reaction to it.
I don't use any perfume or sprays because most the time it makes my skin worse. Look into your shampoo too, I know it's for your hair but it does get on your skin.
I'm super photosensitive so I understand exactly what your talking about, especially when I first got sick my butterfly rash was horrible and sensitive to everything.

Thanks so much Mica. I guess this is another "I'm not crazy." moment. I've never had sensitive skin. Now the "gentle" make up remover wipes as well as the sun block have left me with rashes. Okay. So this is part of it. I will learn work-arounds.

Love the cat, by the way.

I am apparently allergic to Neutragena sun screen- irritation around my eyes, and red itchy rash on my arms and hands. Wonder what they put in that stuff.

Ouch, i'm sorry. I bet with some research there is a product online that is more or sensitive skin.

I've been using the H2O plus products, they are a little costly, but they have kept the itchiness away.
