What are yalls thoughts on this? I dont keep up to date on the latest breakthroughs in the research of lupus so I am unsure how big this actually is. To me it is.

An interesting article, but I think it should be taken with a grain of salt. One study does not a success make. But it looks to be a start, hopefully it's a start in the right direction.

peptides have been studied for over 15 years.
there is reason to be happy with this study, but it still needs more research.

we need some big drug company to not be worried about profit ..... or this will not go much further.

it is a promising study, but it is a low cost approach. drug companies will not be happy to look into this.

Steve is right. It seems like all the drug companies care about is profit. They like to treat an existing disease or malady with drugs that are costly to the patient, or insurance company (whoever is paying the bill). They really don't want to cure diseases. If the drug cures a disease their profits on that disease cease.

That's a for sure where the drug companies are concerned. Ask the people who have to take orphan drugs and have so much trouble getting them or can't get them as there is no profit. I know at one point one of my drugs ceased production. I had to find an alternative.

And now look at all the money they spend on marketing commercials on the TV. Prime time too and that costs, I know I did the bills for an advertising agency.

Ok I'll get off my high horse now.

Nonna, you were in the know. May I ask, what is an orphan drug?

Orphan drugs are usually drugs that are used for rare disorders. They are not common place and not usually prescribed. So if one is really needed by someone it is hard to get, hard to find. Drug companies don't like to produce them since there is no market to make money in.
