    Default Eye problems

January 11, later in the afternoon, my eyes starting having a thick yellowish discharge, that turned white, then clear and runny. I woke up the next morning with the whites of both eyes completely red. Would have been great for a horror movie. Called np my eye doc who was kind enough to get me in that afternoon and long story short, 1 prednisone tablet and an expensive tiny bottle of antibiotic drops later, was determined to be a serious allergy attack in my eyes. To what is unknown. February 1st, later in the afternoon AGAIN, the exact same thing happens!!!!! I'm apparently extremely allergic to something but don't know what!!!! Hubby got me 2 different brands of eye drops last night. The herbal ones offer a bit of relief from the scratchy ness, the non herbal brand set my eyes on fire. Not fun. Eye Doc said he has seen lupus patients suddenly become extremely allergic to stuff suddenly and out of the blue. Has anyone else had similar eye issues? Right now I look like I've been on a wild bender and have a major hangover.

Doc ruled out pinkeye. Talked to hi. This morning and he is thinking it is a systemic allergy- I'm allergic to myself!?! Not a surprise there. He suggested daily allergy drops in my eyes. $160 a month! No way and I'm not putting chemicals in my eyes thank you very much. Going to work with my Naturopathic Doctor/boss

Have you seen your Naturopathic Doctor? What on earth was in the eye drops that your doctor prescribed that would cost $160.00/month???? Let us know what your Naturopathic doctor says, do be careful using any type of herbal remedies. Many of these can actually cause our Lupus to flare up! I wish you the very best.

Yeah, I'm done with my eye doctor: he just wanted to treat the symptoms and not look for the cause. My Naturopath says I'm either allergic to something or Lupus was harassing my eyes. Eventually she and I will do allergy testing. I have 2 possibilities for the allergen: a facial lotion and a food product. I've eliminated both since the incident so time will tell. If I hav another attack it will be back to the drawing board. Oddly, the attacks both lasted 72 hours almost to the minute as have migraines, muscle spasms, stomach upset. It's like my body likes to throw a fit for72 hours then it's done.

When I have a reaction to things I start eliminating several things too. My herbalist told me it was better to eliminate one at a time wait and week and see if better if not eliminate the next. Also to only add one thing at a time wait a week before adding another. Otherwise if you eliminate more than one thing at a time and you get better you will not know which was the offending product. It is hard for me to do as I want to chuck it all out. But it is good reasoning on her part I think.
