Question Auto-immune deficiency that affects the liver?

Does anyone know anything about an auto-immune disease where it is deficient rather than overactive that affects the liver and possibly the pancreas? My SIL has been told that this is her problem and I'm a bit confused. I don't actually speak to her or my brother for that matter so I'm getting the info from my mother. I know that she is on prednisone. Thanks in advance!

AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome) is an Autoimmune Deficiency disease. I think that many people, even many that have autoimmune diseases, get confused by them. How many times have we heard someone speak about wanting to boost their immune system? Are you sure that it is a deficiency and not just a confusion about what and Autoimmune disease does?

Sandy that sounds perfect but it isn't an autoimmune deficiency disease. I am thinking that there is some confusion about the deficiency and the overactive one.

Yeah, I know but the prednisone part of that make me think that the information about "deficiency" may not be accurate. The only other one that wasn't mentioned is Latent Autoimmune Diabetes *different than Type 1* but Diabetics as a general rule would not be given Prednisone - steriods raise our blood sugar levels.

Mari - That's what I've been wondering too, but my mom said it's the opposite of what my immune system does. To me, if someone says immune deficiency that means AIDS. Oh well, just thought I'd see if anyone knew anything or had any ideas. Like I said, I don't talk to them anymore, but I'm not completely heartless. lol

Well, nevermind about it. I don't think they know what the heck they're talking about. I could strangle them right now. UGH!

There are several medical issue's that can get the results she got. obviously you care try and go to the source. We at times set things aside, when they are just a phone call away. And so you know I have an Auto immune deficiency and its damn sure not AIDS. my body is attacking my liver and it has been for 9 months. I have 4 kids and I am utterly devoted to them there my world. Iam scared to death as I am sure your sister is. Maybe you should try to be there for her instead of trying to find reasons to keep your distance. Call her at least and give her the benefit of the doubt and let her explain things to you.... We only have one life and we need to cherish our family and friends love them like there's no tomorrow
Because we are never Promised tomorrow so cherish what you
