Default Advice? Get a disablity lawyer now or wait..

    Hi Everyone,
Looking for a little advice. I have applied for disability and they have now sent me the Adult Function Report and the Work Function Report to complete.

I have heard this is a good thing and that they are considering my application. I am a little freaked out I am not going to put the right things on these reports and I have only 10 days to fill them out which is sort of stressing me out.

I havent been denied..yet..and I keep looking at these forms and getting more and more stressed on what to put down and how to write it and wonder if they are looking for particular words.

So then Im thinking do I get a disablity lawyer now..or wait until I actually get denied then appeal and then get one? Who knows I may actually fill out the paperwork and not get denied but I dont think that will be the case.

Right now I am doing pretty good with this little cocktail of meds they have me on. I am starting the Benlyasta soon to try to wean off the prednisone.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

BEFORE you get a lawyer, if you are in the states, contact your local Center for Independent Living. Let me know where you are and I can direct you to the nearest one. CILs will help you for FREE as long as you haven't worked with a lawyer. They can guide you through the process and answer any questions you have. I work for a CIL and our Independent Living Specialists are amazing! It's their job to know disability, social security and all the paperwork that goes with it.

Thank you so much! I am in California and I will look to see if I can find one near me but any help would be greatly appreciated.
I should be filling out these forms now....but again I look at them and just feel stressed out trying to decide what to put on them.
Thank you so much for your reply!

I got disability the first time around. The lady in Settle who was working my case (I live in Alaska) said that I had a great paper trail and that it was a good thing. One suggestion to, is if you get denied, reapply for it again by yourself. My husband did that and was approved the second time. That saves from lawyer getting a portion of your money. When my husband got his money, it was retroed to date of first application.

Take a deep breath, turn it over and then fill out honestly. Works good every time. Good luck.
