Default Who do I ask..ideas please.

    Good Morning,

I could really use some input, please. I'm new just found the forum, diagnosed w SLE a few years ago.
I seem to get a really bad flare every spring, last year put me officially into type 1 diabetes. I don't mind as that I can control very easily. I felt so good after insulin that I wondered if I really did have lupus (denial and wishful thinking).
Then this year came, I went on prednisone 20mg for 7days, for the eye swelling and an infection, I felt worse, horrible ice pick feeling in all my joints, but blood sugars didn't climb badly.
The day I stopped prednisone I couldn't stand up for any length of time, fog hit, bruising, nauseous now and pain in underarms, right side under ribs an can't see well at all.
I am in middle of switching rheumatologists, and I hate bothering Drs on a weekend, but getting a bit scared of the chest aches that are intermittent, and not sure which doc to call, I called old rheum when this started, they called back and said yeast infection,my pcp was very frustrated and started prednisone.
I'm not sure which Dr to even call? Pcp would like my plaquenil upped to avoid flares, rheumatologist wanted me to try another autoimmune drug instead of plaquenil, told me I could stop plaquenil,on 5th day off I was in a flare, started back up and it stopped.
Sorry to be so long but I don't know who to seek help from, prednisone has never "not" worked, I can only take small doses w diabetes, any ideas would be so welcome as my brain is obviously not functioning at peak.

    Thanks in advance
    Lee

The first thing you should alway do is call your PCP. That's what mine told me when I was in a similar situation. They can then tell you which specialist you need to contact. If on the weekend you feel you need a doctor there is always urgent care or the ER.

Hope you feel better soon and let me welcome you to WHL and our family

Thanks, I feel like I'm being a real pain when I call,
Ill call pcp in the morning, I keep thinking another day and it will ease up.
I've gotten pretty Leary of calling Drs as I live in a small community pretty remote and went thru my share of Drs in the years.
I do have a couple of good ones now, thanks for the advice, I have so much to do and I can't even walk across my yard my feet are crunching.
    Thanks so much

Did you contact you PCP? If so, did they advise you on who you should contact?
