    Default steves sh**ty problems continue

    i thought the tittle needed to catch your eye!

    as some of you may recall....
    i have had my share of shitty problems.
    i have even let them place cameras up my ###
    not to mention the odd water cannon.

    why they have even tried to grow things in my .....
    (why anyone would want that job i dont know)


    but seriously.........
    i have found a diet that is based on scientific results.
    it does not cure anything.......
    but it does help with my ibs.

    all of the literature starts with....
    "consult your dietitian"

    and i must agree, the dietitian explained things, and made sure i was getting enough of all of the right foods.
    as opposed to enough of some of them, (my version of the diet).

    the diet is called fodmap.

    it is based on the theory that some foods digest slowely, and therefore cause intestinal issues.
    please do your own research and make up your own mind.....
    but i am now on it forever.
    it is part of the new lupee me.

    and it is a diet you can break every so often without the guilt.
    monash university in australia has been credited with most of the research and factual data.

    A friend of mine is doing this with good results so far. She's lost some weight, but more importantly she says she feels so much better. Good luck!

    I've not heard it called fodmap here, though I also can't remember what it *is* called here... Can you go into the "fodmap" directly steve, without having to do any "prep" diets?

    Should have mentioned my friend is in New Zealand. Not heard of it here in the states either.

    yes i never did any prep diets.

    the good thing is that it is eliminating certain types of food only.
    there is no special way you have to prepare your food, not extra weighing of portions.

    there is some favourites i now cannot eat.
    but the benifits for me are worth it.

    your dietitian should have a book produced by the university to give you.
    (if they now there stuff)

    i may be able to help.

    but using a dietitian is a very wise step.

    Let me ask you about "motivation" steve. I've tried like four different diets with dieticians, and one is worse than the next. The one was basically nothing but rice and rice protein. Didn't "stick to the ribs", and was high in calories, which did not help with a person doing pred at med/high doses at the time. Another is "bland", with "blanched" veggies and others of that ilk, no salt, etc., and I *starved*!!! The diets help, but I couldn't "maintain", as they say. What helps keep you going on the fodmap thus far? thanks.

    they do not tell how to cook your meals.
    they do not tell you how little you can eat.
    they look for diversity and variety.

    basically you do not eat certain types of foods.
    everything else is ok.

    it looks at what foods stay in the stomack for log periods, or
    what foods are not digested by the gut.

    it still allows red meat, white meats and fish
    it still allows most fruit and veges.

    i like the diversity, but had to stop some of my favourite foods.
    an example green apples were one of my favourite snack foods.
    apples are not allowed, because of the high natural sugars.
    but there is still lots of other fruits to have.

    the diet has all of the food groups in it.
    it does not rely on stopping or exagerating one food type only
    (eg. high proteen, low carb diets)

    and i noticed the difference in my bowels,
    that is also a great motivater.
