Default suggestion to choose a doctor in Stanford University hospital/clinics

I will see a rheumatologist in stanford hospital. There are a group of specialist in auto-immune disease to choose. I noticed that some of them are faculties in Stanford University who are very active and pioneering in research on auto-immune disease. there are also other clinical professors to choose. I am not sure which one is good. Is a faculty more related to research part and clinical professors are more related to practice? Could somebody give me suggestions? Thank you.

I can't answer your questions, but I do know that there is a fantastic doc in SF who is an AI expert, especially for Sjogren's. Her name is Dr. Nancy Carteron. I don't know if she is associated with Stanford, but she might be. I can't see her because she doesn't take my insurance.
    Good luck at Stanford.

Thank you, magistramarla. Unfortunately, I am closer to San Jose, not San Francisco. What I am thinking is that a pioneering researcher on lupus may not be necessarily better than an experienced clinic doctor. A researcher/scientist may possibly put a patient into trials for new medication or treatment.
