Question Haven't been able to get into the Rheumatologist...annoyed!!!

Ok so I have been trying to get into the Rheumatologist. The first time I called was because I never heard anything back after the referral. They looked for my referral and didn't find it or my medical records. I had my doctors office send the referral again. I called the next day to see if they got it and they said they didn't. They said they would call the doctors office and see what the problem is. They called and called me back and told me they were sending it to the wrong place in the clinic. So they finally got it and my medical records. They were going to send my medical records to the Rheumatologist to review and I would get a call back from the guy I was talking to to tell me that the scheduling department was going to call me. That was Tuesday the 17th of July and I still haven't gotten a call back.

I am really mad. Why is it taking so long to get me into the Rheumatologist?

it is not unusual to take 3 months to see a rhuematologist.
they book appointments well in advance.

almost everyone has metioned this when first diagnosed.
but unfortunatelly there is no way to get in sooner, they are booked out.

Steve is right. It can take weeks or months to get in to a specialist. It is the nature of things

Angel, are there any other rheumatology practices in your town? Sometimes one might be booked out and others might have more availability. For me, I first saw a rheumatologist at the large multi-specialty medical group in my town. It took months to get in, and after I saw him, I didn't really like him at all. So I got a second opinion with the other rheumatologist in town, who had recently opened a smaller practice. When I called them, they got me in the next week! Because the practice was not associated with the more popular large medical group and the practice was newer to town, they had more openings in their schedule. I did research and felt assured this second rheumatologist was a good one, and I went to see him.

Best decision ever. He's fantastic, and because he keeps his practice smaller, I'm always able to get in when I need it, they respond to my calls quickly, etc. I love it!

So, if you can, shop around.
