Question Question for those using MTX injections?

For anyone who is using the injectable form of MTX,
Are you still able to get the liquid form of the medication? Is the shortage over?
When I saw my rheumy last week (see my thread in Laurie's Lounge), I told her that I stopped doing the injections when the medicine got scarce and herd-to-get. I didn't tell her that I stopped because I don't trust her, since she was only ordering lab tests once every 9-12 months.
Her answer was this - "The manufacturer of that medicine has discontinued the liquid form. They are going to just the pill form."

I told her that I don't want the pills, since I don't tolerate them at all, and we left it at that.

It seems to me that I've seen people here and at the Sjogren's site who are still doing the injections. Was this doc telling the truth, or did she just pull this out of thin air?
Thanks all - you are the true experts!
    Hugs,

So I just answered my own question by googling it. Here's the link: http://www.ashp.org/drugshortages/cu...tin.aspx?id=26
It seems that there is still a shortage and the company doesn't seem to be manufacturing it right now, but this article doesn't make it sound like that will be permanent.

Not that I would not have been happy to research your question to find an answer for you; but may I say I just LOVE it when people are pro-active and do the research to find the answers that they need, and then share their findings with others. Thank You, Again!

    hi marla,

so sorry that i just found this thread, but you know me. lol....I too went through a period of time where i could not readily get the liquid form. My pharmacist said that the company that had been manufacturing liquid mtx had gone out of business, and that the drug company had found a replacement manufacturer. I have not taken mtx in several months, so i don't know if it is corrected. i never heard the story that only the pill form would be available.

    hope you are doing ok.
