This is a very difficult question to answer. Since Lupus affects each of us differently, and our symptoms are not all the same...our experiences with remission are also very different. Remission can be anywhere from hours to years..depending upon your symptoms, your treatments, etc.
One of the primary goals of treatment and self care is to avoid flare-ups and our hope is to reach some form of remission. For many of us, remission does not mean that the disease has gone away; it merely means that we are able to control the disease with little to no medications. But, there is no standard period of time for how long these controllable periods will last or even if we will ever achieve them.
I wish that there was a definitive answer to your question, bur there isn't. Remission is as unpredictable as is the disease itself.
