Default 10 years of SLE but new to Australia

    Hello all,

Ive been dealing with a very nasty SLE for the last 10 years and Ive had pretty much everything finishing with itis (nephritis, vasculitis, pleuritis, arthritis and the list goes on and on) but I havent managed to find a VERY EXPERIENCED lupus specialist in OZ yet like Ive had in Europe and Americas. Im a fan of aggressive approach but as i suffer a lot with vasculitis and turns out to be not the biggest consense amongst docs its where i struggle the most. Anyone has a good name to recommend in any state? For an idea Ive heard from a private one recently that my bloods scared the hell out of him and he would need the guys in a public big hospital, who recently said they also never managed such a case and dont really know what to do at this stage. Any help would be appreciated as Im actually contemplating flying out for treatment which will be slightly difficult in the long run.....thanks in advance for any assistance. Cheers!

    hi Kim,

thanks for the feedback. Im in SA but Im willing to fly as I think Im done here. Do you know if your rhumi has a conservative or aggressive approach for treatment? And if he/she has been dealing with vasculitis specifically? If yes, could you please pass me the contact and I'll chase him/her and see if he/she's happy to take me on board!

    cheers

hi dancer my specialist name is dr mark liew and his phone number is 0296715986 if you ring and ask all your question about your vasculitis. he is a very nice doctor and he did not hesitate in treating me. but if he cannot help they could put you on to someone in sydney who could take care hope this information is useful. also some of the other members from australia may get on today and they may know someone closer to you i know we have members in wa, melbourne, and brisbane. take care hope this information is helpful.
