I'm deeply sorry to hear about your soon and it must be so terrible watching him suffer especially when your a parent.
Please let us know your sons results and i'm thinking of you deeply and your soon.
Hugzzzzzzz you way Terry xxxx
Thanks everyone for the well wishes.
The hematologist ordered additional labs this morning and the results were already posted. The fibrinogen levels were low; clotting factor high; CBC normal; Albumin high. We don't have the results back for the ultrasounds yet, but should by tomorrow. I believe there is something dreadfully wrong with his liver.
He never drank any alcohol until he was 22 and doesn't drink a lot so I highly doubt it's alcohol induced, however, I do believe it is a liver ailment that is causing his sxs
Please continue the good thoughts. I'll keep you posted.
Hang in there, girl. I know you're worried. We can still hope that it's something that is easy to deal with.
Hugs to both of you,

Steve's still losing weight. He's having weekly labs drawn as Factors I and VII are continually abnormal, as are the PTT levels. The hematologist suspects a problem with his liver (although he's not a heavy drinker and not a drug user). He's having a CT, with contrast, of the liver and abdomen on Weds. and will see a GI on the 17th.
Please keep a good thought.
Your entire family is in my thoughts. Please keep us updated.
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

I added a couple of recent pix to my album today. You can see the weight loss since Steve's wedding last October. The black and white photo and the pix taken at Bodega Bay on 7/16/11, although he's wearing a jacket, he's noticeably thinner.......breaks my heart.
My heart is heavy for you. My son who has mental illness also has an eating disorder and he gets into cyclical vomiting at times. I watched him nearly starve many times. It's torturious for a mother as we fed them from birth. Please know I am praying for all of you. ((hugs))

It is so difficult when your child is struggling. My daughter has had chronic daily migraines for 4 years now and I have watched her go through so much. Our thoughts and prayers will be with you and we will be anxious to hear of his results.

Do the docs have any theories yet? Considering what you have, are they thinking that he has something autoimmune?
We all know that it's comforting when we can name the beast, and then start to fight it.
I hope that you hear some good news soon, and be sure to let us know.

They ran "the usual" autoimmune panels late last week and all were WNL.
The abdominal US was normal. The abdominal CT scan, with contrast, was yesterday and the results aren't back yet. Hopefully, the doctor will call him by tomorrow afternoon with the results.
I can't recall if I posted this previously or if I just told my mom (longggggg week), but the hematologist thinks it's liver disease causing Steve to be ill.
I will post as soon as I get an update....
