    Default Son is Ill

Just a couple of weeks ago I posted in the thread about my kids, eldest being healthy as a horse. Well, that is not the case.

Over the last couple of years he's had some digestive issues similar to my own and as a result has rduced his food intake.

He went to the doctor and the doctor was alarmed to see that he's lost 25 lbs. W/o trying. My son's going to have an abdominal ultrasound on Tuesday to see if there's an issue with his liver, spleen or gallbladder.

Also, he's having nosebleeds that originate in the sinuses vs the nose and they will not stop. The doctor ran some labs. He's not anemic, bit now has to see an ENT and a hematologist on Tuesday as well.

Yep, I'm nervous as all get out. This is one of my babies. It's ok for me to have a challenge, or ten, but not one omy kids. I told him last week I was getting worried because he was getting skeletal looking. He said he was the same weight as he was in high school, but he looks skinnier to me.

Keep a good thought please. I don't want to borrow trouble but I could just cry.....

It's OK to be nervous, he's your son. Karen and I will keep him in our thoughts. Try to stay positive, I know that's easier said than done. Please let him know he has folks out there rooting for him.

Oh Bonus Mom - I can imagine how you feel. My son and I are not always on the best of terms, but I'd be devastated if there was some health problem. No matter how old they are, we just want to absorb whatever ails them - physically and emotionally. Hang in there lady. I'll keep a good thought.

Oh I am so very sorry! I am going through much the same thing with my daughter. Not to the extent that you are but she is being monitored for our disease. I only tell you that so you know that I can feel for you. I understand how your heart breaks and I am always here if you need to vent. I hope that all goes well with the doctors and please keep us postedd

I'm sorry to hear that your Son isn't doing so well. Sometimes I think that it's almost harder for loved ones than the sick, because they can only sit by and wonder and worry. Completely helpless as to being able to do anything or help them out.

I really hope to hear that everything turns out okay - I've got my fingers crossed for you both.

Hang in there... sending bright blessings your way.

My heart really goes out to you. It is so frightening to watch your child change before your eyes and not know why. And then you get so scared that you don't WANT to know why he's sick. Thank goodness that your son's doctor is on top of this, though, and was able to get him in to 2 specialists and a test on Tuesday! That seems rather miraculous to those of us who have waited 3, 4 or 5 months for an appointment.
My daughter used to have gushing nosebleeds, but they stopped completely when she was treated for AI disease. She saw a hematologist and had tons of labs, but nothing scary came out of it.
I discovered, after many years of literally worrying myself sick, that anticipating the worst doesn't change the outcome - it only prolongs the emotional pain. I used to think that if I prepared myself for the worst news, then it wouldn't be so bad when it happened. Well, the worst never happened, but I had some horrific days trying to prepare myself for it anyway. I know you can't turn off those worry glands, but try to at least distract yourself with something you enjoy. I'll be thinking about you and your son.

    Hi BonusMom,
I just found this thread, and it's Tuesday.
I hope that you let us know what the ultrasound showed about your son.
Hoping that it turns out to be something that is easy and quick to solve.
    Hugs,
    Marla
