Question Positive ANA survey! If you have a positive ANA please visit!

So I've read a lot of posts about people feeling multiple symptoms long before having a positive ANA test. So I was wondering if everyone would mind posting the length of time they were having symptoms before getting a positive ANA. And if you wouldn't mind the initial number and pattern. Thanks so much, I think this maybe an interesting thread. I'm actually wondering how good an indicator an ANA test is in diagnosing early disease.
    Thanks all & hugs,
    Suzanne

It's been 11 years or so since my ANA was tested and I believe it was speckled. I don't remember the number anymore. I was diagnosed 6 months or a year before that, and I don't remember the number anymore. I was symptomatic for about 10 years before I got sick enough to be diagnosed. It was a positive parvo titer that clued my PCP in that it was autoimmune.

You've got it mate it does'nt have to show positive the first time, it could be the 4th down the line because lupus fluctuates the blood and can give off false readings..so it's constant bloods for we all, all the time.

I think my ANA was 1:320 speckled pattern - just had it done the once, waiting to see the Rheumy, my urine had erythrocytes high normal whatever that means. I havent been diagnosed, but after a recent course of steroids the pain went away for a bit but is slowly starting to come back.

So not sure what is wrong with me yet and I am not pinning to much on the appointment either in case the steroids will affect the next set of bloods.

    Suzanne,

Both my reading's for ANA & ENA came in first time as high reading's but it dow help when you can't get your blood results off your specialist.

As far as I know I was first tested for ANA positivity last Summer. It was positive and in Feb of this year I was diagnosed. I have had symptoms for about 10 years though. Not sure that helps as I don't think I was ever tested before.
