nose is sore
every time my rash breaks out my right nostril becomes very sore and lasts for weeks, I keep reading that the mouth and nose sores lupus causes are painless but my nose gets very tender and sore, does anyone else have this problem?
Yes, I get this quite often. I think the info on the sores not being painful is in error. Mine are pretty painful, especially the mouth sores. I get them on the roof of my mouth, and biting down into something like a slice of toast feels like broken glass. The mouth sores are probably one of the most benign symptoms we have to deal with when compared to some of the more serious stuff, but it's got to be one of the most painful.

As we speak my nose has tender sores in it. They are like blisters and drain a little. My mouth sores are frequent and hurt when I brush my teeth and bleed.
I agree! Mine are not painless! They sound a lot like yours loved. I think the people that say they are painless must not have Lupus and just repeat what they read in the books
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.
LOL - My nose is red, swollen and sore right now for a very different reason - listen and laugh....
I woke up two nights ago with half of my body outside of the covers and freezing. Remember, it gets quite chilly at night here in Northern Ca, even in the summer.
My dear hubby had turned over, wrapping himself in the covers. Mostly asleep, I gave a tug on the covers, and ran my thumbnail all the way across the front of my nose.
That woke me up! I wrestled some covers away from him and tried to go back to sleep with a throbbing nose.
I found blood stains on my pillowcase the next morning, and my nose is still very sore. I was just at a scholarship event, and had a really rough time covering it with make-up.
OK, let the laughter begin....
I get those also in both nostrils sometimes and they taking some doing just to heal up and go, they're very sore and painful and i am sorry you've got it also but i've not as yet suffered with my mouth like other member's.
It's another affect that goes with the disease. x
The more I read today the more angry I am getting with my Rheumy. He asked if I got mouth ulcers which I don't but when I told him I get nose ulcers he just repeated loudy "DO YOU GET MOUTH ULCERS?" then totally disregarded the nose ulcers as a symptom. Between that any my rash being called spots he's really lucky I didn't beat him to a pulp! And yes, they are incredibly painful. Mine usually come with a constant stream of tears where they are stinging so much!
If I had known that there would be so many clueless rheumo's in this world, I would have gone to med school myself! Just think what it would be like to have a rheumo who also has SLE. Dare I say, they might be more understanding (and professional).

Marla, you're right I laughed and then remembered why I sleep better with Lupus than I did with my ex-husband! Sheesh! Get a face guard dear girl!
Honestly gkf, vitamin E oil was recommended by my Rheumy and my dentist for the ulcers, dry mouth, and nose sores. I use it and it seems to take the edge off. I lose an entire layer of skin that runs along the edge between the cheek and gum lines. It just peels right off. Hope you feel better soon.
