Congratulations on the new job in Oroville, CA. We visit there frequently and you are right about the heat. It is about 2.5 - 3 hours north of the SF Bay Area so you can always plan a weekend away with your family to escape the heat.

I looked at your album and your family is beautiful!

I wanted to let you know to check out medical facilities/doctors in Chico as well. Although it is a little further to drive, you may prefer it.

take care and all the best with your new job!
  2. Hi all, my apologies for being quiet for the last three weeks, I have been away checking out new employment opportunity in Oroville Ca. I GOT THE JOB I am excited.
How has everybody been doing? Rastagirl, I have missed our chats along with every body else. I would love to also hear from any body in the northern Ca. area.
    Oluwa, how you doing?

Yes, I am not looking forward to the progression of my diseases (I also have RA and Psoriatic Arthritis...I know, I'm a train wreck) and having to explain them to Annie. She's a very empathetic kid...she knows when I have a flare or when I'm not doing well. Sadly, she's never SEEN me completely well. Thankfully, my husband is healthy as a horse, and has more than enough energy to wear her out when he gets home from work. I will have to find some shaded playgrounds nearby for us to go to...all the ones I know of are either in full sun, or so far back from the road I wouldn't feel comfortable going alone....sigh.

How did you explain your illness to your daughter? Were you specific with your explanation? I'd love some pointers...because Annie is starting to ask questions, and I just don't know what to say...

  5. Jim...On your face and head, they pop? White head? I get little greasy pimples from my night sweats on my scalp and face. Little white pearls. Pop, gone. Do you use face cream or any products on the hair? But it does sound like hives on your hands. They come in all sizes and shapes. I've had them dinner plate size and pea size. Try taking Bendryl, non drowsy or Zyrtec...and see it that helps.

Also with my malar rash, some creams, especially if they have dimethicone in it cause bumps on my face...itchy and times clear bumps...sound like you? If I wash my face they start to disappear, but for me they you have malar...

Maybe there is a same ingredient in your face and hair products that are causing the bumps on your face and scalp. Or hair product alone getting on your face too...

Even though we get gunks from Lupus, there are still things we can do to treat it with...Happy Day...Love, Oluwa

Hello Jim! Yes, that's my Annie...she's 3 going on 30. They say to reduce your stress when you have Lupus...whoever said that must not have had a toddler. Great to meet you...looking forward to getting to know you better!!
  7. Hi Jim. Top of the mornin' to ya. Describe your rash. Where is it?

I get hives small red wheals on my arms and hands. I can watch it grow and disappear. For me, it seems small stress triggers it. If the hives don't resolve I take Xyzal, prescription antihistamines.

I also get a rash, rash, little blisters on my hands. It itches and they the itch goes, but the bumps stay and dry up. For that I use hydrocortisone OTC. If that doesn't resolve it Triamcinalone, lowest steroid cream in prescription.

Home remedy, icing it to contain the itch, keep nails clipped to the quick. Oatmeal paste might help.

After while I get use to rash, when it is in one area and I'm able to refrain from itching. I had a total body rash for almost 6 months. That was insane and they never found the cause.

Just Lupus, that's how it goes, no rhyme or reason to it's madness except to mess with us. I try to beat it mentally and spiritually.

A new day is out there for us to enjoy..enjoy it. Love, Oluwa
  8. the night before last i didn't sleep at all, how aggravating, last night i took a shot of benydryl and went to bed around 7:00, and slept till 3:00 this morning, felt good to finally get some shut eye. as time goes by i will get more pictures scanned and posted. thanks for the complements.
  9. Hey there Jim,

I woke up around 6 this morning. My sleep patterns are all screwy. Sometimes I don't get to sleep until 6 AM. Oh well. I checked out your picture albums. That's one heck of a family you have. And your pics of the mountains are beautiful. Thanks for posting them. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day!

  10. sound fun, a true socker mom!! Weather down here is beutiful,if we didn't have this stuff, I saw a saying today, Lupus; if you don't have it you just don't get it. I thought to myself, wow, that could't be more true.
