- 43, happy mama of two, happily married, less than happy about the SLE but living well overall in spite of it!
I had my first flare in my twenties, saw a rheumatologist, he mentioned Lupus, my Mom started sobbing uncontrollably because her youngest sister died from Lupus Nephritis at the age of 21. My mom was also undergoing chemo and radiation for uterine cancer at the time, so when the flare was over I stopped going to the Dr., and swept it under the rug. I had things occur in the past twenty years, but was not educated on Lupus other than my Aunt's horrible demise from it, so I didn't think anything of it.
I had a bad flare two years ago, full body, just like the one in my twenties. I consider myself, blessed, and lucky to not have any serious organ damage from the years of avoiding the possibility of having Lupus.
I am not thrilled to be diagnosed, but I am relieved. I grumble through the days I feel limited, but I am thankful for still being active and happy.
I find comfort in reading the experiences of others, I hope I can do the same in return!
