I had to laugh when you said he was looking at your belly. I had one doctor wack my stomach for about 20 mins listening to the sound it made. He was the most stupid doctor i have ever had. He was the one who was going on about my spleen

So i was wondering if you have had to change your diet. My mum has booked me a visit to the dietrician but thats a while away, and i was wondering you you had been given any good advice for our age group. The prednisone has literally made me eat anything and everything and ive but on a tonne of weight! So far alli i have hear is stay away from salty and fatty foods but i am yet to start using that advice. oopsie!

Well it was great tp hear from you again. It is school holidays in Australia at the moment and i have been too lazy to organise anything with my school friends so it is really nice having someone to talk to.

    Take care xx

Thats definatly a more interesting story than mine! Doctors have ways of making things sound really scary, like how you were told about the fluid. I had one doctor in emergency tell me my spleen was going to expode. Turns out my spleen was perfectly fine but everything is so scary when they cant workout whats wrong with you. As for all the blood being taken you are most certainly not alone. At one point the blood nurse even comented that it was far too much considering my body weight.

Its great to hear that the sun does not affect you!Im pretty lucky with that to!

Thank you! I feel so young and I know Lupus is something more diagnosed when you're older, but I'm glad to see there are younger people here too! I need all the support I can get!

On the thrid day my skin turned all blue and looked all bruised. I was again told i had a viral infection and that i would get better at home. So i was sent back home for yet another week and things only got worse. All my syptoms flared and i remember my eyes were so hot i thought i was going blind. When i finally went back to see my doctors i was told i had Lupus. I was devastated.
Thank-fully now i have a fantastic team of immunologists. The only syptoms i really have now are the general sore back and legs, hair loss and incredibly messed up sleeping patterns. The rash has gone away but my skin is very sensititve to heat now.

Sorry that is a little long winded. It wouldn't fit in one message!

So how about you! I am really interested in how people got to their diagnosis.Mine took forever i was wondering if this happened the same way.

Oh, i forgot to mention when i was first admitted to emergency it was my 17th birthday. It was a bad time but im getting better.

    Hi again!
Well, heres my story.I wrote a little about it in a blog blog but it all started with a tight chest and the symtoms of a cold.It got worse and worse so i took a a week off school. Over another week i started getting really high fevers and i couldn't move my body was in sooooo much pain. After that my mum took me to the GP and iwas told that i had a viral infection in my chest. I was given antibiotics that only made me sicker and i stared vomititng. The vomititng lasted around 3 days so mum took me to the emergency room. Apparently i was not sick enough to be admitted so we waited for about 4 hours untill we gave up and went home. Three days later i hadn't stopped vomiting and literally hadn't eaten for a week. We went back to the emergeny room and i thankfully got a fantastic nurse who realised i was in bad shape. They admitted me straight away and ran tests for 24 hours straight. I spent the next three days in hospital with a fever the whole time.
    (to be continued)

Hey Ashley, i know what you mean about wanting to talk to someone your age. None of my friends at school have ever really been sick so they are tired of me complaing. I try not to talk about it too much with them but it is hard sometimes. Aparently lupus is quite common in our age group but i am still yet to met anyone with it. Thats why i think this forum is so great!

I'm glad to hear you do cheerleading. Im in year 11 and signed up this year but wasn't able to follow thorugh with it. I do love dancing though, and have finally started taking classes again. Cheerleading sounds like something you really enjoy and im glad it makes you happy and can still do it!

Well thats all for now but i would love to keep in contact! Its good knowing i can talk to someone who completly understands my situation.

    Take care, Hazel
