My mom pretty much took care of telling everyone in the family and explaining it the best she could, which wasn't the best lol I didnt even want to talk to anyone about it and everyone was always asking me about it and always asking how I was feeling and I would always say Im doing really good, just to get them to leave me alone. I hope that it doesnt affect you that bad as well. I haven't had to go there, so I don't know what you'll be looking at. I know when I was on high dose steriods, there was a lot of visable change. And after missing a month of school and coming back everyone was like what the hell happened to you, and I had to explain it over and over again for days. My face was about 2 times bigger than usual and I looked 4 months pregnant. And when I went back I still could barely walk. I looked like a hot mess. It was a great way to end my senior year lol
I'm the same way. I still have not told a lot of people, but I find that I share more with strangers that I do with people I've known for years. I know its bad. In due time. I still have to have the discussion with my 14 year old brother. He lives in NY, so I will have the convo with him around Christmas. I just don't want to worry him. And I definitely decided not to tell my grandma. Again, I don't want to worry her. I just hope that the chemo doesn't affect me too bad to where I have to tell her because of visible changes.
For the longest time I couldnt even say the word. Like I didn't want to. So I didn't even tell many of my friends or talk about it. Now its a running thing. I tell random people about it lol I figure that if I dont spread the awareness then no one will so I just tell anyone when the opportunity arises.
Yea. I still haven't told many people, but the ones I have seem to be interested in looking it up. I'm just glad to be spreading the word. I'm learning too so its cool.
Thats what Im saying lol I have found that EVERYONE at my new job that I have told actually knows what it is and it amazes me because most other people look at me confused and haven't even heard of it.
lol wow. Well at least we're getting awareness
I know lol all my friends were like "no Brittney its never lupus" when I was diagnosed lol one of them even had a House sticker on a binder that said it was never lupus. Because of that show though a lot of people have at least heard of it lol
Absolutely! I try to DVR them but I do miss some. Like you said they will end up on USA. Its funny, I never appreciated the Lupus joke until I was diagnosed. The first thing I said when my Dr. mentioned lupus was "It cant be Lupus, its never lupus" lol
Its probably my favorite show =) I have been so busy between school and a new job I haven't been able to keep up with this season but I figure I'll eventually see them on USA or something because the repeats always end up there lol
Yes! I absolutely love the show.
