Has anyone else had a symptom of being clammy with their lupus flares? I was outside maybe a half hour today & came in & noticed my face/skin burning followed by weakness & my typical malar rash. I took a nap & ate but it didnt help & just made me nauseous. I also had whole body stiffness & this clammy skin where I would get cold chills & sweats & feel feverish. I also tried a warm shower but it didnt help. Anyone else have this?

Yep - I've had exactly that. You're stronger than I am, though. I can't get the shower thing into the equation. I'm usually too exhausted. I swear God gave me my son to adjust the thermometer because my temp goes up and down so often. And there's absoluely no telling how I'll react to the outdoors. Sometimes it's no problem and sometimes it's one huge issue where I would go hide in the bathroom to avoid going outside (this was when I worked). I get so clammy that I'll come home from grocery shopping, drop my bags on the kitchen floor and head in to the bedroom to change into shorts and a sleeveless shirt. Once I even had to have my hair recolored because she colored it dark and since I sweat so much, my hair looked pitch black from the wet look. It was awful! No, you're not alone. If you're new and new to the meds, it does improve. Otherwise, I guess you just get used to it because while it still happens to me, I don't get as frustrated.

Yep, I get clammy skin a lot, I sweat a lot, get all rashy on my face when I go outside. I feel even worse sometimes when I take a shower because my skin rashes even more for some reason. How warm was your shower? I noticed that lukewarm, or even a tad bit cooler than lukewarm, can help. But warm and hot water definitely makes me rash like crazy.

I too get chilled and clammy. I like to soak in a hot tub to bring my temp up. But anymore getting in and out of the tub is hard. I just wrap up and go to sleep. It seems I feel better then.

So im glad there are others that share this mess. I have been on plaquenil for going on 2 yrs now. It hasn't really worked at all to be honest. The only thing that has was getting pregnant with my daughter which since shes now 2 months old & I stopped breastfeeding everything is coming back. I am also having to see a GI specialist for possible IBD so well see what turns up there. I cannot deal with extreme temps either way either! Hot showers def bring out my rash more too. The shower I took last night was pretty warm but not hot hot. I would suffocate lol. Im not sure if I had a fever or not because I never checked but I have ran low grade temps in the past(98s-99.6). My normal temps are in the high 96s-97s. Does anyone have any problems with IBD? If so what are your symptoms?

I feel a little ignorant here - what is IBD

IBD= Inflammatory Bowel Disease such as Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis are some examples.

I have all of those symptoms, but like someone else said.. can't fit the shower in. Tooo tired from even being outdoors. I was sleepy about an hour ago at 5 and I'm trying to stay awake. I get your exact symptoms tho. Even a little bit outdoors and I'm burned.
