Ok, I think I'm in a minefield here, the last three months has seen as many people being diagnosed with chicken pox, and now theres a case of measles.

Ive had both of these as a child.

Does anybody know what risks are involved with coming into contact with someone that has measles?

Hi Morpheus!

I would say that we (AI patients in general) are more at risk for any contangious disease since we are a population of immuno-compromised/supressed people, and as such should take more precaution to avoid contact with contagious disease whenever possible and should take great care to properly wash our hands and protect ourselves when that contact is unavoidable. If you are asking about the Measles vaccine, Kendra's site has a good list of how different vaccines interact with Lupus patients. http://cure4lupus.org/store/index.php?main_page=page&id=166&chapter=1 There seems to be a lot of good technical info out there if you do a search of "Lupus + Measles" and most of it says Lupus patients should stay away from measles and the measles vaccine.

A pregnant woman especially should stay away from the measles, for the baby's sake...
