I think I may have a lawsuit against my hospital. Before I was diagnosed I went to the emergency room complaining of really sharp chest pains and trouble breathing. Well they did a x-ray and ekg, while I was in the x-ray room, I noticed my left lung had this huge spot. I asked the x-ray techican what was all those spots on my chest and she said she wasn't allowed to tell me that info.

When the doctor came back he told me nothing was wrong and sent me home. All he told me was I had a bladder infection.

So I fianlly went to the doctor, she sent me to a RA specialist. He sent me to the same hospital to do some x-rays. I believe the x-ray techican saw something because she came back into the room and asked me "Have you ever had x-rays done before?" I told her yes and they told me everything was okay. She then gave me that look like umm and said okay.

So come to find out, my whole left lung was filled with fluid. My question is does anyone here think I may have a lawsuit? :?:

Hi butterfly11, I would request the X-Rays and bring them to my primary doctor. Maybe he/she could guide you and confirm that, in fact, at that time there was something visible on the x-rays. I think it would be totally negligent of them (and a suit possible) if that was the case.

As a nurse, yes, I'd say if this is true that this is negligence on the part of that doc.

You may have to contact medical records and request a copy. Try not to say why, if anything, say your specialist would like to see them. I know here, we have to pay a nominal fee for copies, but in your case, this may be worth it.

Best of luck,

Thank you for the advice ClaireMac and Mitch. I will indeed do that.

You need to get the x rays and the radiology reports. When in the ER the doctor reads the xrays. A radiologist would have also read the x ray. To early to decide a law suit. Need more fact than what you have right now. ALso the ER doctor would have dictated or made progress notes. Doctors are human they can make mistakes. Not all mistakes are law suit worthy
