Hey people-I am a first time person and I have some questions. In February I got very ill, I went to the er with chest pain, they diagnosed pleurisy, went for tons of tests, have a positive ANA test but was not given any specifics as far as the titers, and my hair continues to fall out like crazy. I have major insomnia and seem to have a weakened system on a whole. I went to a lung specialist who said I might have lupus but that the medications have many side affects so she said to do nothing until I show more symtoms. what do you all think? should I consult a dermitologist or a rheumatologist? confused!

Sounds like you should consult a rheumatologist, especially since you are presenting with more manifestations than just you skin. Going to a rheumatologist first might cut down on the amount of time needed for diagnosis and treatment!

Let us know what you decide and how it goes

thanks for the info. It is a confusing thing for me as I also suffer from migraines, I do have mouth sores all of the time that I have never known what they are. The dentist one time saw them and said he had never seen anything like it? It is hard to know if these are isolated individual things or if it is all related. I will try to find a rheumotologist in my area. I live near St. Louis. Do you know of any good doctors in this area?

Hi Kimmekay

Lupus.org has info on rheumatologists, you might find a link there. Look for someone who's board certified in rheumatology. You've got some great medical centers in St. L, if one is a teaching hospital, that might be a good place to look - they often have the most up to date docs.

good luck and keep in touch!
